Oklahoma City National Memorial Museum

Our second stop on today's bus tour took us to the Memorial Museum of the April 19, 1995 bombing of the Federal Building in downtown Oklahoma City. Wow, what a place!

The front of the Federal Building after the bombing.

What widespread damage.

A depiction of the explosive device inside the truck.

The actual crater created by the explosion.

Two of many displays showing the aftermath of the explosion.

The truck's rear axle was found on the street.
It's serial number was used to identify the truck.

The Florida license plate from the truck.

Hubbard shipmates listened to a lecture given by a Ranger.
In the background is the Memorial Museum.

Across the Reflection Pond is The Field of Empty Chairs,
a tribute to the 168 Americans killed on that day.

The victim's name is on the glass front and the chair height varies by age.

The Survivor Tree was the only tree near the explosion that lived.
It was replanted here where it has grown to be the largest of it's kind in town.
