The time has finally arrived! On Wednesday, June 4th, we'll give up our quiet life of being a couple of retired folks at home and venture out in our 'condo on wheels' (a 2007 Winnebago Voyage 33V with its more fuel-efficient toad - a Chevrolet HHR - following close behind) for our first extended trip across the USA.
Our first planned stop is Mount Airy, NC for the 37th Annual Bluegrass and Old Time Fiddler's Convention where we'll spend four or five days making good music with old friends. From there, we'll head on up to Galax, VA for our RV club's monthly rally. After that, there is nothing much planned except 'Go West Old Man!' ;-) Our rough itinerary includes, but is not limited to, visiting our son in Denver and friends in various states; other neat places like Yellowstone, Mount Rushmore, the Winnebago factory in Iowa; and eventually finding our way to Clifftop, WV, for our other favorite old-time fiddler's convention in early August. Decisions will be made as the adventure unfolds...
This is our first attempt at keeping a blog. We will attempt to keep it updated with our travel and sight-seeing experiences whenever we camp in an area with WiFi service. More to follow once we hit the road. Right now it's a few more days of planning, packing and preparation...and then...let the fun begin!
